Sacred Spaces Doula Support

What is a Doula?

The word doula comes from the times of Greeks, when knowledgeable, trained women helped those in childbirth. The ancient practice of woman giving comfort and support to women during this sacred event has stood the test of times.

As your Birth Doula I provide:
  • Prenatal support
  • Preparation for creating the birth that you have envisioned
  • Assistance in developing your birth plan
  • Continuous support at home, in a birthing center and or hospital during labor and delivery
  • Guidance during the first few weeks of breastfeeding and any other post-natal support
  • A written account of your labor and delivery for your enjoyment
As you Postpartum Doula I provide:
  • Emotional, physical, and informational support in the days and weeks after your birth
  • Care for your infant while you take a shower or much needed nap
  • Breastfeeding support, guidance and resources
  • Practical support for your family and household: grocery shopping, meal preparation, light cleaning, and providing information on rhythms and rituals for a healthy family life
As your Night Doula I provide:
  • Care for your infant so that you can have the time to heal after your Birth.
  • This service is nice for mothers that have had a C- section or have multiples. If baby is breastfeeding I can bring the baby to your bed to nurse.
  • Then I care for all the babies while you get a good night's sleep.

Parents need to provide me with a place to sleep also. Preferably close to the baby.

Blessing way As a Blessing Way service I provide:

Blessing ways are traditional to North American Indians who mark the transition a woman makes when she moves from a maiden to a mother. It is a time of receiving for the mother to be, a time where she is nurtured and honored by her community of women.   (continue reading/collapse)
